The rates for transcription depend on many factors, such as client requirements, the recording categories, turnaround time, the purpose of the transcription, and the audio quality. There are different plans that are used to price a transcription job.
Plan A is based on audio minute.
Under this plan, cost is measured based on minutes of audio.
- Available for recordings in minidiscs, digital audio and video.
- This plan is available for audio that are on CD, DVD, or in digital format (.mp3, .mp4)
- Available for recordings in minidiscs, digital audio and video.
- This plan is available for audio that are non-digital, like cassette tapes and VHS tapes.
- The difference between this Plan A and Plan B is that in Plan B, the quality of audio is inconsistent.
- Inconsistent means it's not all poor or all good quality. The quality varies.
- CD, DVD, or in digital format (.mp3, .mp4) may also fall under this plan if audio quality is inconsistent.
Plan B is based on audio hours.
Under this plan, cost is measured based on the hours of audio.
The table below shows a rough figure of costs for transcriptions.
| Up to 2 speakers | More than 2 speakers | |
| High quality audio | $1 per minute | $1.5 per minute |
| Medium quality audio | $1.5 per minute | $2.25 per minute |
| Poor quality audio | $2.5 per minute | $3.75 per minutes |
How do I know the quality of my audio?
In general, if you can hear what the speakers are saying on a first try, then your audio is high quality. If you have to rewind and try to listen again, then your audio is either medium or poor quality.
Please add $0.25 to each per minute rate for the following additional services:
Verbatim transcription: Includes everything that a listener would normally ignore, like uh's, um's, and stutters.
Time Codes
Corrected Grammar: Transcript will be proofread and edited (if necessary).
